Grammy Award-nominated reggae star Wayne Wonder adds heat to his new single that’s already blazing the charts by teaming up with Grammy Award-winning songstress Mya on the sizzling “If I Ever” Remix. The mastermind of Sean Roy Strachan, producer at Miami-based Jewmaican Records,

“If I Ever” Remix
puts the tune into extended play for Wonder, who hit reggae charts across the U.S., Canada, U.K. and the Caribbean with the original track, earlier this summer.

The original mix was produced by Mark “Bronco” Marsh and co-produced and mixed by Grammy Award-winning music producer Anthony “CD”Kelly for Wonder’s very own SingSo Records. Once it started hitting ears and airwaves around the world, it caught the attention of Sean Roy, who got Mya into the studio to listen to the track and eventually fuse her vocals with Wonder’s for the monster single. The duo performed it live at Reggae Sumfest following Nicki Minaj’s set, on July 23 in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

“Working with Wayne Wonder was such a delight,” says Mya. “I’ve been a fan of his work for quite some time.  We linked through a mutual producer, Sean Roy, who also produced our remix to ‘If I Ever.’  While working in the studio and rehearsals, Wayne possesses a very focused, but kind, humble spirit.  I also got to see another side of him when he ripped up the stage at Sumfest 2011! What a treat!”

Wonder, who is currently on a North American tour with reggae icon Beres Hammond, is equally as excited about the collaboration. “It’s great to have the single on the charts and collaborate with Mya on the remix,” reveals Wonder. “We took it to the core when Mya joined me for the Sumfest performance and it was well received. Up next is the video so I’m looking forward to getting that out to the fans.” Plans for the video will go into motion once the tour with Beres ends; it will be directed by the internationally-acclaimed director Gil Green.

Mya taking a first listen to “If I Ever” with producer, Sean Roy Strachan, in Miami.

Miami-based producer Sean Roy Strachan has produced tracks for artists such as Tanto Metro & Devonte and Kevin Lyttle, to name a few, and is also one of the producers in Sean Kingston‘s Time Is Money Entertainment camp. “Initially, I presented the remix project to good friend, Sean Paul, who really liked it and had agreed to do a feature on the record,” discloses Strachan. “But while in a listening session in Miami with Mya regarding tracks I produced for her upcoming albums, we somehow came across the ‘If I Ever’ track. Before then, I had never thought about it, but instantly I knew it would be a song better-suited for a male and female artist combination. We got into the studio a few weeks later and the rest is history.”

The remix also saw co-production from Christopher Garvey and Joshua Rechani, and was mixed at Interscope Records by multi-Grammy Award-winning engineer, Niko Marzouka. The sizzling single is now available on  iTunes.

Reggae sensation Ras Penco is making the rounds on local and international airwaves, as his hit single “Thousand Miles” has been garnering airplay on radio and television throughout the Caribbean and North America. The single went to #1 in Jamaica in April, is currently #2 in the Cayman Islands, and the video has been in regular rotation on BETJ and VH1 Soul ever since.

Now as the summer concert circuit heats up, Penco will be taking centerstage at Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay, Jamaica on Friday, July 24. Billed as “International Night,” Penco will be sharing the stage with the likes of Ne-Yo, Keri Hilson and Jazmine Sullivan. Sumfest is touted as the best reggae show on Earth and Penco is one of the few reggae artists that will be bringing its authentic sounds to the thousands of international tourists who journey to Sumfest each year.

“It’s a great accomplishment for me to be performing for the first time at Reggae Sumfest,” states Penco. “Sharing the stage with Ne-Yo on ‘International Night’ and representing reggae music on that line-up and that stage is a big step for me.”

Back with his new single “Most High,” Penco composes a more cultural theme than the romantic “Thousand Miles,” in a timeless conscious tune that laments the guidance and protection offered by the Rastafari faith. The single is already climbing the charts and finding fans in reggae aficionados everywhere. “It’s a prayer for me now to further my career and for Jah to guide me along my journey,” reveals Penco. “It’s doing well in Jamaica, as well as the U.K. and Canada and I’m looking forward to performing for my fans there soon.”

With two consecutive hit singles, Ras Penco is tapped to be the future of reggae music and someone reggae fans can count on to deliver solid songs that define the soulful genre. Stay updated with artist news and tour information by logging on to www.myspace.com/raspenco.

Irie Jamboree – North America’s Premier Reggae Festival

Sean Paul, Queen Ifrica, Freddie McGregor, Mr. Vegas, Assassin, Laden, Tony Rebel, Spice and Chino are among the reggae/dancehall acts confirmed for Irie Jamboree – North America’s premier reggae festival organizers announced recently. The event takes place on Labor Day Sunday, September 6, 2009 in Queens, New York.

Bobby Clarke, CEO of Irie Jam Radio, co-producers of the event said that “Sean Paul’s appearance will help the festival attract not only traditional reggae/dancehall lovers but mainstream fans who have now embraced music from the islands. He has established himself as the top artiste from the Caribbean and has consistently demonstrated his ability to score international hit songs, having done so with Deport Them, Hot Gal Today, Gimmie the Light, Get Busy, Like Glue, Temperature, We Be Burning, Baby Boy and Come Over” Clarke noted. The Grammy winning artiste recently landed his 13th entry on Billboard‘s R&B Hip Hop Singles charts, with So Fine, the first single from his forthcoming album.

Cultural artist Queen Ifrica, who was in New York recently to promote her new disc “Montego Bay” is also confirmed for Irie Jamboree 2k9. With a growing fans base and hits like Daddy, Lioness on the Rise, Keep It To Yourself and Below The Waist getting significant airplay in North America and Europe, the Fyah Muma is primed and ready to blaze the stage with another commanding set. Also gracing the Jamboree stage will be Big Ship recording artiste Freddie McGregor who will shear the stage with his son Chino and label mate Laden, who garnered the spotlight with “Time to Shine.”

Mr. Vegas, who recently electrified reggae lovers in France and who is enjoying another phenomenal year with his brand new chart hit So Blessed and favorites like Hot Wuk, Tek Wey Youself, Heads High and We Nuh Want Nuh Friend From Dem will grace the Jamboree stage once again along with Assassin and Spice.

One significant change that will be instituted by Team Irie Jamboree this year, is the moving of the event to an outdoor facility at York College on Guy R Brewer, located a few miles from Roy Wilkins Park, home of the event for the past six years.

“We really believe that we have found a home at York,” said Steven Williams, CEO of Black Emperor Entertainment, co-producers of the event.

“Roy Wilkins has been a great venue for us however we could not ignored complaints from patrons about the lack of substantial park which is the main reason for the move” Williams said.

York College has a municipal park in close proximity and is just minutes from the NY Subway and Long Island Railroad which will greatly improve accessibility for many patrons who use mass transit to get and from the event annually.

“Our goal is to make the whole Irie Jamboree experience a memorable one for patrons and with this calculated move, we are one step closer to achieving our ultimate goal” Williams reiterated.
