Grammy Award-nominated reggae star Wayne Wonder adds heat to his new single that’s already blazing the charts by teaming up with Grammy Award-winning songstress Mya on the sizzling “If I Ever” Remix. The mastermind of Sean Roy Strachan, producer at Miami-based Jewmaican Records,

“If I Ever” Remix
puts the tune into extended play for Wonder, who hit reggae charts across the U.S., Canada, U.K. and the Caribbean with the original track, earlier this summer.

The original mix was produced by Mark “Bronco” Marsh and co-produced and mixed by Grammy Award-winning music producer Anthony “CD”Kelly for Wonder’s very own SingSo Records. Once it started hitting ears and airwaves around the world, it caught the attention of Sean Roy, who got Mya into the studio to listen to the track and eventually fuse her vocals with Wonder’s for the monster single. The duo performed it live at Reggae Sumfest following Nicki Minaj’s set, on July 23 in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

“Working with Wayne Wonder was such a delight,” says Mya. “I’ve been a fan of his work for quite some time.  We linked through a mutual producer, Sean Roy, who also produced our remix to ‘If I Ever.’  While working in the studio and rehearsals, Wayne possesses a very focused, but kind, humble spirit.  I also got to see another side of him when he ripped up the stage at Sumfest 2011! What a treat!”

Wonder, who is currently on a North American tour with reggae icon Beres Hammond, is equally as excited about the collaboration. “It’s great to have the single on the charts and collaborate with Mya on the remix,” reveals Wonder. “We took it to the core when Mya joined me for the Sumfest performance and it was well received. Up next is the video so I’m looking forward to getting that out to the fans.” Plans for the video will go into motion once the tour with Beres ends; it will be directed by the internationally-acclaimed director Gil Green.

Mya taking a first listen to “If I Ever” with producer, Sean Roy Strachan, in Miami.

Miami-based producer Sean Roy Strachan has produced tracks for artists such as Tanto Metro & Devonte and Kevin Lyttle, to name a few, and is also one of the producers in Sean Kingston‘s Time Is Money Entertainment camp. “Initially, I presented the remix project to good friend, Sean Paul, who really liked it and had agreed to do a feature on the record,” discloses Strachan. “But while in a listening session in Miami with Mya regarding tracks I produced for her upcoming albums, we somehow came across the ‘If I Ever’ track. Before then, I had never thought about it, but instantly I knew it would be a song better-suited for a male and female artist combination. We got into the studio a few weeks later and the rest is history.”

The remix also saw co-production from Christopher Garvey and Joshua Rechani, and was mixed at Interscope Records by multi-Grammy Award-winning engineer, Niko Marzouka. The sizzling single is now available on  iTunes.

Brooklyn Music Fest Monday Madness with Machel Montano and Mr. Vegas

Following a rich tradition of bringing the best concert events to Brooklyn for years, the Brooklyn Music Festival returns with a Labor Day lineup that is sure to please the Caribbean massive. Aptly titled Monday Madness, the biggest show in New York City this Labor Day holiday is set to go down in Brooklyn, NY – a mecca for Caribbean music lovers. Promoter Daddy Grace Entertainment sought out the hottest acts to truly celebrate New York’s West Indian Day/Labor Day Parade with none other than the ‘King of Soca’ himself, Machel Montano, along with dancehall icon Mr. Vegas.

Machel Montano and Mr. Vegas share a similar history of producing quality Caribbean music since the very beginning of their careers, both boasting catalogs that have set the standard in their respective genres. Montano, a soca star from childhood, is known as the ultimate performer for carnival celebrations worldwide and is, in fact, the reigning Soca Monarch and Road March King in his homeland, Trinidad. He’s credited for placing soca music on the worldwide map. Whereas, Mr. Vegas has consistently pushed the boundaries between dancehall and soca, and is hailed as the best Jamaican act to ever do so. His hybrid of dancehall and soca music has become his trademark. Soca fans look forward to his music as much as their own native sounds, during carnival season.

Montano and Vegas will be joined on stage by friends from both the soca and dancehall worlds, such as Farmer Nappy, Lyrical, Gold Duss, Wild Fire and Khristopher, with a few surprises also planned for concert-goers.

“It’s New York City Carnival and everyone celebrates across the city, the entire weekend, but we are the only concert that will bring you the true essence of carnival,” states promoter Vanmyke of Daddy Grace Entertainment. “Plus we are doing it on the actual Labor Day with Monday Madness, so we’re inviting everyone to come out and celebrate carnival with us, and truly enjoy your holiday.” The concert also marks Montano’s very last appearance in New York City for the summer.

The concert takes place at the Sesame Flyer Pan Yard, located at 1020 East 48th Street (corner of Farragut Road & East 48th Street), in Brooklyn, New York. Doors open at 4pm. Advance tickets for $20 and $25 are now sold out; tickets are currently $30 and will be more at the door. It is proudly sponsored by Western Union and food vendors will be on site, making it a fun-filled event for the entire family.
