Ruth-Ann Brown recently received two awards (Best Female Reggae Recording and Best Reggae Recording) for her five-song EP, entitled RUTH, at the 15th Annual Washington DC Reggae Music Awards. The celebration kicked off with a feature on FOX Network where she performed her latest single, “Any Day Now” and her debut single, “Unfamiliar Feelings” to over a million viewers. She had this to say about the experience:
“From the moment I walked into the FOX 5 building I was overcome with excitement, knowing that about one million people could see me perform.”
Her record label, Bran-Nu Entertainment (BNE) and management (Ric Zheron), were thrilled about the news. BNE, a multi-faceted organization specializing in management, publishing, licensing and distribution have been a strategic driving force in exposing Reggae music to unconventional markets; securing licensing deals with international airlines travelling to territories such as Europe, Africa and Asia. Their promotional efforts have generated features on national television and airplay on radio stations across the Caribbean such as CVM TV, RJR, IRIE FM and ZIP 103. Paving the way for Brown to perform to thousands in packed auditoriums and share stages with iconic figures such as Freddie McGregor, Beres Hammond and Ky-Mani Marley.
This August Brown will join Oliver Samuels, Dobby Dobson, Wailing Souls and many more at Jamaica’s 50th Anniversary celebrations in New York. It is also anticipated that she will penetrate the European market with the release of her latest single entitled “Any Day Now”. So far the single, which is available on iTunes and Amazon, has gathered tremendous momentum. Fans wishing to be up-dated on the latest news can join her Facebook page.
