RUB-A-DUB ATL, the Best Reggae Music live Dancehall Audio to Download

2

The 70s, 80s, and 90s were prolific decades for dancehall music and many strides were made in Jamaican music during that time.

The 1970s is still heralded as the golden age of Jamaican reggae music, but with the advent of digital technology, the 80s and 90s decades became known as the sweetest time for commercially successful crossover dancehall fusion, sound clashes and juggling dances alike.  The transitional period out of the golden age and into the digital era is when the term rub-a-dub emerged as both a description of the musical style (heavy drum patterns accompanied by swinging basslines) and a verbal representation of the popular hip-to-hip movements between dance partners of the time.

To this day in cities around the world, there remains a high demand for the fashion of dancing with accompanying classic riddims and anthems that rocked the dancehalls of yesteryear.

As such, it brings me great pleasure to present Rub-A-Dub ATL – dedicated to you, the reggae lover.

Atlanta Event Electric Dancehall

The 1st ever Electric Dancehall Atlanta will take place at the newly refurbished WildPitch Music Hall, located at 255 Trinity Avenue, Atlanta, GA on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 10pm to 3am. The highly anticipated special event is set to be the premier gathering for the progressive Atlanta Caribbean music and EDM movements, bringing fans together in the downtown area for one night only. Advance tickets can be purchased for $20 at www.electricdancehallatlanta.eventbrite.com. Come be apart of what is sure to be an exciting evening of dancing and socializing.

Currently many songs on the Billboard Top 100 feature elements of Dancehall and other Afro-Caribbean genres. Artists like Drake, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, & Justin Bieber have used these same elements to connect with a larger audience. Electric Dancehall aims to present a new way that the world can party by compelling the audience to engage with their music in a more energetic way, forgo their musical or cultural affiliations for one night, and let the DJs cater to their inner dancing urge.

Headlining Electric Dancehall Atlanta will be DJ Mars, Shane Talon, ĀGARD, Highlanda Sound, and DJ Passport. The night will be hosted by the genre-bending Jamaican performer and songwriter, Dreggae.

A great melding of worlds is taking place in terms of musical exploration and production. We are excited about bringing together followers of different genres, doing away with perceived divisions, and merging music styles and culture together in a fresh, innovative way for an unforgettable experience,” says Electric Dancehall CoProducer Kahlil Wonda.

Rocksteady ATL Day Party – July 5, 2015

The Rocksteady ATL event takes place on the first Sunday of each month as an alternative to the mainstream dancehall parties which have become commonplace.   DJ Passport and Kahlil Wonda’s vision was to create a nightlife option to celebrate authentic reggae music in the city of Atlanta, and provide an uplifting experience where patrons can enjoy classic roots reggae, dub, and lovers rock music combined with the best quality conscious reggae of today.

Voted Best of Atlanta 2014 by Atlanta Magazine and located at 483 Edgewood Avenue near the intersection of Boulevard in the rejuvenated, historic Old-4th Ward district of downtown Atlanta, the Sound Table is as well known for its ambiance and acoustic properties as it is for fabulous cocktails and world-class mixology.
