Jamaicans Want More Stitchie!

Jamaicans Want More Stitchie! The lieutenant turned pastor converted the patrons that came out to the 2015 Rainforest Seafood Festival in Montego Bay last Wednesday night. With heavy rain pouring down the massive crowd cheered, danced and applauded as Lt. Stitchie delivered an entertaining, inspirational and humorous set.

When he arrived at the event, Lt. Stitchie and his team were advised that the time allotted to him initially would be reduced to 20 minutes due to the late start. With this in mind Stitchie had no choice but to shorten his performance, something the audience was clearly not happy about.

Stitchie took them on a musical journey, teasing them by doing snippets of some of his biggest hits; “wear yu size”, “natty dread”, “great ambition and more. The lieutenant also did some of his more recent releases, tracks like “man a pastor”, which had the crowd laughing at the comical story lines, “fast and pray” and “Lord Almighty” which captivated them. He also did some new exclusive pieces written specifically for the event.

At the end of his set the veteran Dancehall artist was flooded with requests to make additional appearances in Montego Bay (the city where he got some of his biggest breaks and made some of his biggest changes in music).

Grammy Award-nominated reggae star Wayne Wonder adds heat to his new single that’s already blazing the charts by teaming up with Grammy Award-winning songstress Mya on the sizzling “If I Ever” Remix. The mastermind of Sean Roy Strachan, producer at Miami-based Jewmaican Records,

“If I Ever” Remix
puts the tune into extended play for Wonder, who hit reggae charts across the U.S., Canada, U.K. and the Caribbean with the original track, earlier this summer.

The original mix was produced by Mark “Bronco” Marsh and co-produced and mixed by Grammy Award-winning music producer Anthony “CD”Kelly for Wonder’s very own SingSo Records. Once it started hitting ears and airwaves around the world, it caught the attention of Sean Roy, who got Mya into the studio to listen to the track and eventually fuse her vocals with Wonder’s for the monster single. The duo performed it live at Reggae Sumfest following Nicki Minaj’s set, on July 23 in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

“Working with Wayne Wonder was such a delight,” says Mya. “I’ve been a fan of his work for quite some time.  We linked through a mutual producer, Sean Roy, who also produced our remix to ‘If I Ever.’  While working in the studio and rehearsals, Wayne possesses a very focused, but kind, humble spirit.  I also got to see another side of him when he ripped up the stage at Sumfest 2011! What a treat!”

Wonder, who is currently on a North American tour with reggae icon Beres Hammond, is equally as excited about the collaboration. “It’s great to have the single on the charts and collaborate with Mya on the remix,” reveals Wonder. “We took it to the core when Mya joined me for the Sumfest performance and it was well received. Up next is the video so I’m looking forward to getting that out to the fans.” Plans for the video will go into motion once the tour with Beres ends; it will be directed by the internationally-acclaimed director Gil Green.

Mya taking a first listen to “If I Ever” with producer, Sean Roy Strachan, in Miami.

Miami-based producer Sean Roy Strachan has produced tracks for artists such as Tanto Metro & Devonte and Kevin Lyttle, to name a few, and is also one of the producers in Sean Kingston‘s Time Is Money Entertainment camp. “Initially, I presented the remix project to good friend, Sean Paul, who really liked it and had agreed to do a feature on the record,” discloses Strachan. “But while in a listening session in Miami with Mya regarding tracks I produced for her upcoming albums, we somehow came across the ‘If I Ever’ track. Before then, I had never thought about it, but instantly I knew it would be a song better-suited for a male and female artist combination. We got into the studio a few weeks later and the rest is history.”

The remix also saw co-production from Christopher Garvey and Joshua Rechani, and was mixed at Interscope Records by multi-Grammy Award-winning engineer, Niko Marzouka. The sizzling single is now available on  iTunes.

Reggae Sumfest to Recognize Beres for Contribution to Jamaican music

“We at Reggae Sumfest are very pleased to be presenting this great reggae artiste and felt that he deserves to be recognised for his enormous contribution to the growth and development of our music. A Reggae Sumfest without Beres never truly feels complete,” Gourzong added.

Hammond, who is easily one of Jamaica’s most prolific singers ever and who has a massive fan base, will be making his return to the festival after a three-year hiatus.

Known for his soulful voice and eclectic lovers’ rock ballads, Hammond’s discography consists of at least 18 albums and six compilations.

He is expected to wow the Sumfest audience with his timeless hits, among them Step Aside, Can’t Stop A Man From Trying, Standing In My Way, and She Loves Me Now, to name a few.

“Beres loves to perform at Sumfest because of the exceptional reception he gets. It’s been a while since he has graced the stage at Catherine Hall, and he has made it clear that he will be delivering one of the best sets locally, come July,” said Hammond’s manager Mervis Walsh.

Reggae Sumfest, set for July 17-23 at Catherine Hall in Montego Bay, promises to be an explosive affair featuring top acts such as international sensations R Kelly and Nicki Minaj, as well as Jamaican stars CeCile, Tifa, Kip Rich, Protoje, Jah Cure, Half Pint, and Konshens.
